• 4 ply is fingering weight (Weight 2)
• 5 ply is sport weight (Weight 3)
• 8 ply is DK weight (Weight 4)

About 8-Ply Cakes

8-ply cakes are shipped as two complementary 4-ply cakes. The cakes are not identical; each contains a different portion of the color sequence. When worked together, they create a smooth, continuous gradient across all 8 strands.

Recommended Hook and Needle Sizes: 

Hook and needle sizes are recommendations only. Individual tension and project type may require adjustments.

• 4 Ply: Hook Sizes – B (2.25 mm) to E (3.5 mm) & Needle Sizes – 1 (2.25 mm) to 3 (3.25 mm)
• 5 Ply: Hook Sizes – E (3.5 mm) to 7 (4.5 mm) & Needle Sizes – 3 (3.25 mm) to 5 (3.75 mm)
• 8 Ply: Hook Sizes – G (4.0 mm) to H (5.0 mm) & Needle Sizes – 6 (4.0 mm) to 8 (5.0 mm)
